"One of the main attributes of this country is the right to publicly criticize
what is going on in government. To remove that right is to negate the value of
the Constitution and move us to a tyrannical form of government, resulting in
war within our borders by those who would seek to preserve the Constitution with
whatever means necessary."
- Harold
"While we are subjected daily to the blathering propaganda from the mainstream
media, we still live in a free country and last time I checked were entitled to
choose who we listen to and what we believe. To those who are attempting to
silence and control those of us who differ in opinion, we refuse to surrender
our Constitutional rights. Mr. Limbaugh, a private citizen is a merely
exercizing his first amendment rights and I support his right to do that. How
hippocritical of you to defend any perverse and salacious speech and yet
persecute those with whom you disagree. Your credibility has long ago been lost."
- Linda
"Dear Speaker of the House Pelosi, I am a Black women and proud to say I am
American...why are you infringing on our right to free speech and using Mr.
Limbaugh as the first target? Please stop."
- Tanya
"The DCCC should allow Rush Limbaugh and any citizen of this country his freedom
of expression. Is this what the Democrats want to be *known* for? Silencing
those who oppose their agenda? Shameful and Wrong."
- Eileen
"I am outraged that you are trying to silence Mr. Rush Limbaugh and violate his
First Amendment Rights. What are you afraid of? The Truth! He has an army of
20Million+ listeners who will stand behind him.Power to the people! The listeners
will decide not Washington!"
- Sasha
"Ms. Nancy Pelosi,
I am writing to let you know that as a private citizen I am
appalled that there is an organized effort on part of the US Government to
silence Mr. Rush Limbaugh from speaking his mind regarding President Obama's
legislative actions to stimulate our economy. This is a violation of Mr.
Limbaugh's First Amendment right to free speech. What is becoming of our
democratic government that our forefathers fought so valiantly to bring into
being. What about all the American lives that were lost so that we would no
longer be ruled by the unjust British crown! You are doing a disservice to all
Americans. Could this not be called a "Hate Crime?" Please reconsider how you
go about silencing the voices of Americans.
Sincerely,
Bernadette"
"Freedom of Speech in America is a Right!!
Or is it just when we agree with
you?
Shame!!"
- Linda
"What's next Obama administration??
If you want socialism why don't you leave
our country. You don't like what Rush is saying becasuse it is THE TRUTH. THE
TRUTH gets in the way of your little SPENDULUS agenda. Go do your jobs and
leave everybody else alone. This is AMERICA - hello - NOT RUSSIA."
- Jimmy
"DCCC
Speaker of House, Nancy Pelosi
Attack on the First Amendment-
Mr.
Limbaugh
Attack on a private law abiding citzen must stop
NOW.
Sincerely,
Delores"
"This petition drive against Rush Limbaugh by the DCCC is directly against our
First Amendment rights. This is not acceptable in our country. We have always
valued the right to speak out against any of our public servants, including the
President. Please stop this now."
- Tina
"I am very concerned about the erosion of our right to express dissenting
opinions. I encourage the DCCC to refrain from efforts to limit free expression
on the radio or in any other form. Thanks you."
- Wayne
"it is very troubling to me that Mr Limbaugh is under attack for expressing his
opinion. What a double standard when I see all the ridicule that was made of
former President Bush. And how troubling it is to see how ethical standards for
cabnet appointees are ignored-I am thinking of all the "I forgot to pay my
taxes!" Do you know where I would be if I "forgot to pay my taxes"? I can have
no respect for this flawed desision making. This country was founded on ideals
of truth and honor but I am afraid we are in very dark times when all is twisted
for political gain."
- lola
"Let freedom ring in the form of FREE SPEECH!"
-Virginia
"If the First Amendment is not honored for each and every citizen no matter what
their opinion, we lose the very soul that this great country was founded on. Let
him speak, or who knows what freedom will be taken away next."
- Kimberly
"Using the power and resources of the federal government to attack Rush Limbaugh
a private citizen is a direct attack on everyone's free speech rights,
irregardless of their political views and must be stopped immediately."
- Ken
"Dear President Obama,
We regret members of your Party seeking to silence the
voices that they may not agree with. This is certainly not the change we voted
for. I would suggest that this would be the start of the end of our
constitutional rights as we know them, and will not bode well with the masses."
- Paul
"Please respect Mr. Limbaugh's 1st ammendment rights to express his opinion. It's
his right and all of our rights to respectfully disagree."
- Kathleen
"I urge you to stop attacking 1st ammendment rights of private citizens by trying
to silence Rush Limbaugh. I find it quite offensive that someone who holds a
different view is pressured by the DCCC to be quiet."
- Lisa
"Please don't use government to try to silence one individual. Remember the First
Amendment. This is NOT a police state."
- Lonnie
"Our second president put into law that it was illegal to speak ill of the
government, the president in particular. This completely destroyed his
presidency. Now they are trying to do it again. What happened to the right to
free speech."
- Calvin
"The attack on Mr. Limbaugh's First Amendment Rights by the DCCC is part and
parcel to dictatorial regimes that our country is supposed to be defending the
free world against - the right to a free and Democratic Republic with the right
to express our dissent openly and freely even against out governmental leaders.
Shame on you. This action by the DCCC puts them on a dangerous and slippery
slope towards sanctioned governmental suppression of free speech similar to
countries like communist China."
- Richard
"The government is supposed to uphold the Constitution! It cannot take away
anyone's right to free speech! This is ridiculous!"
- Jamie
"The right of free speech is part of who we are as Americans. To try to take
this away from one of us is to try to take it away from all of us. Rush
Limbaugh is entitled to speak his opinion as are all U.S. citizens. The
government has not right or authority to restrict this freedom."
- Anne
"Three words "The First Amendmendment". Joseph Goebbels would be proud of Obama,
Pelosi and Reid. Why can a media darling like Bill Maar spew his liberal views
and hate and lies about Cathoics, but a conservative and pro-lifer like Rush can
not speak his mind about Obama and his liberal anti-life agenda."
- Patrick
"Just one comment....The First Amendment! In case you've conveniently forgotten
what that is: "The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is the part
of the United States Bill of Rights that expressly prohibits the United States
Congress from making laws "respecting an establishment of religion" or that
prohibit the free exercise of religion, LAWS THAT INFRINGE ON THE FREEDOM OF
SPEECH, infringe the freedom of the press, limit the right to peaceably
assemble, or limit the right to petition the government for a redress of
grievances." There's so much more here that you've been infringing upon, but I
only capitalized that part of the amendment that referred to what you're trying
- again - to do to Rush Limbaugh."
- Joyce
